Garden
Issueburn sits within beautiful garden grounds extending to approximately 0.7 of an acre and has received equal amounts of care, dedication and exacting attention to detail.
There is a wonderful walled garden, the more formal element, complete with patio, espaliered fruit trees, a formal pond, Doocot (not for pigeons) and stunning Moon Gate which leads to the Wildflower Meadow with Pond and Bog area with abundant amphibian habitat.
The sunken garden offers 2 reflective ponds, with winding paths leading through the herbaceous border to two Golspie Stone patios with specimen trees.
The vegetable garden has 7 semi-raised beds with an abundance of variety of vegetables grown. The garden is bordered by a beech hedge with a laburnum and rose arbour. This area also has the greenhouse, cold frame and growing tunnels.
The orchard has 8 apple trees undersown in wild meadow flowers and bounded by poplars.
The productive kitchen garden with greenhouse, cold frames, composts and semi raised vegetable beds leads through a rose and laburnum arbour to the Orchard with second Wildflower Meadow below.
Practical elements are covered by the Garage, timber shed and maintenance yard (to include the scaffolding, if desired). There is also Planning for a Potting Shed.
Wildllife
The Tower accommodates house martins in the window alcoves, swifts in the specially built nest boxes swallows in the garage and sparrows and swallows in the Doocot. The decaying Scots Pine is a magnet for birds and perfect spot for watching from the South facing windows.
